Hidden Gems | Marshall’s & TJ Maxx

If you don’t already shop at Marshall’s or TJ Maxx, you need to get up right now and go to a location because you are missing out. There are so many hidden gems you can find at those stores for a discounted price! They carry some well-known brands and some small brands. I’ve found products that I use frequently and some products that I sadly regret purchasing. Here are a few of the ones I’ve found!

👎🏼 ValJean Labs | Restore and Clarify

$5.99 each (Originally $15.00)

e

These serums are suppose to restore and clarify my skin. The Restore contains Niacinamide and Zinc which both are suppose to help with acne. The Clarify contains witch hazel and vitamin a which is suppose to be soothing. I was excited to try these drop serums, but I really don’t think they did anything. The main ingredients were pretty low on the product ingredient list so I wasn’t very satisfied. I just switched over to The Ordinary whose price is similar but better quality.

👍🏼 Shiseido | Pureness Mattefying Moisturizer Oil-Free

$19.99 (Originally $33.50)

I was excited when I saw this at TJ Maxx. Shiseido is a pretty prestigious brand, and since I have oily skin, this moisturizer sounded perfect for me! It’s a very liquidy moisturizer. It goes on smooth and dries up quickly. It leaves your face hydrated but matte. It has helped me with my oil production on my long days at work. This one was definitely worth the steal.

👍🏼 Dr. Brandt | Dark Circles Away Eye Serum

$14.99 (Originally $55.00)

I’m not that experienced with eye creams and serums. But I saw this and couldn’t help but try it out! It’s different because you roll on the product onto your under eye. You push to dispense the serum, then roll the product with the small metal ball. The cold ball is suppose to help with lifting dark circles.

? Dr. Brandt | Cellusculpt Smoothing Cream

$10.00 (Originally $59.00)

I haven’t been able to try this product yet. I bought it during the winter. But now that it’s summer, I’ll be wearing more shorts so I can see the results. But for the price I got it for, I had nothing to lose. I’m hoping this one will be a steal!

I hope this post was helpful in finding hidden gems at these stores. Just have an open mind and a sharp eye. You’ll never know what you’ll find.

How I Use Micellar Water |Garnier

Garnier has really outdone themselves with their SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water. Micellar water has been gaining popularity for all its cleansing benefits, and it’s so great to have one that’s readily available and affordable! Here’s my review on the two micellar waters I have.

All-in-1 Waterproof | Makeup Remover

I’ve been using this one for years now, and it’s the only thing I’ll use to remove my eye makeup, especially anything waterproof. I’ve always struggled taking off my waterproof mascara, and this removes it effortlessly. You have to shake the bottle because it separates, which is normal. It actually makes a difference to shake it, so don’t forget!

All-in-1 Mattefying | First Cleanse

I just started using this, and so far I love it! I use this as the first step to double cleansing. The waterproof version was just too oily to use on my face, so I’m glad they have several options to choose from. I wear SPF daily and work at a hospital where I keep a face mask on 8-12 hours daily. Cleansing with micellar water is suppose to purify my pores from dirty, makeup and pollutants. I haven’t used it by itself since I always follow up with my gentle foam cleanser.

For only $6.99, this is definitely worth purchasing and using! There are more expensive micellar waters out there, so if you’re curious, start off with this. You can find this at any drug store or supermarket. I always see coupons and sales on these so just have a good eye and be on the look out!

Let me know in the comments if you love using these.

Repurchase or Regret: Philosophy Purity Made Simple Pore Extractor Mask

This clay mask had AMAZING reviews everywhere and even made it on the Allure Best of Beauty list of 2017, so of course I had to try it. I have large pores around my nose and blackheads on my nose and chin. I’ve given this product a try for a few weeks now, so I know exactly what it does and does not do on my skin. Keep reading to see what I think!

Featuring purifying white clay, salicylic acid, and natural exfoliants, this creamy Pore Extractor Mask gently warms skin upon contact and helps draw out impurities, scrub away blackheads, and improve the look of pores. The gentle yet potent exfoliating formula leaves skin looking refreshed, smooth, and glowing—with less visible pores.

Quote taken directly from Sephora website.

What drew me into this product is that it claimed I would be virtually blackhead-free after two uses, which I thought was pretty outlandish. I’m sad to say that I was not blackhead-free after two uses. I will admit that I have extremely clogged pores, so I’m not too surprised with the results.

The texture of the mask is what you would expect. It’s thick and grainy, which helps exfoliate your skin during application and when you wash it off. It gets really tight once it starts to harden but leaves my face very smooth after use. I used it twice a week, and I do see an improvement in my pores. They’re smaller and my blackheads look like they’re surfacing more. I like to use my Clarisonic afterwards with Neutrogena’s Gentle Foam Cleanser since the mask already contains salicylic acid.

Although disappointed about the blackheads that still remain on my nose, I do like that it helped with the excess oil I have on my forehead. It has definitely help with the oil production.

Verdict: Both?

I don’t regret purchasing this product, but I also don’t think I will repurchase. This clay mask works well for my oily skin, but does not remove my blackheads and decongest my pores as well as I hoped. There are so many other clay masks out there that I’m sure I’ll find one that works better for my skin. It’s such a large tube that until now I have barely made a dent, so this will last me a while.

I definitely recommend giving it a try because I lot of people love this product. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it will not work for you!
